The seminar “Sozial- und Kommunikationspsychologie” will be offered with the topic “Innovations in communication”. Based on classic theories of computer-mediated communication, we will focus on recent digitalization innovations within the broader realm of communication. It will be discussed to what extent the classic theories can be applied to explain the mechanisms of recent innovative applications and phenomena. Examples for these applications and phenomena are political micro-targeting; behavioural targeting; AI-mediated communication; online infuence(rs); deep fakes.

Within the course you will give a lecture on an innovation in communication and its theoretical mechanisms. The course will take place online in a mixture of live-zoom-sessions and asynchronous videos. The course will be taught in English and will be held on Thursdays from 10-12.
