Forget about Times Square – the lifeblood of NYC is its subways. Six
million passengers are carried every day across the five boroughs,
bringing together the poor and rich neighborhoods. And what would NY
subway trains be without their elaborate writings (graffiti) on the side
of the trains, which march relentlessly over doors and windows? In our
seminar, we will discuss respective literary works, in which NYC subway
riding or graffiti play an important part. Depending on our funding
situation and of course, on how the pandemic will play out in the winter
semester, we are going to have a city tour guided by a graffiti writer.
Instead of a reader, you will find all the necessary material on
moodle.
