In this class we will read a selection of short stories by Nobel Prize-winning Canadian author Alice Munro, from her earliest collection, Dance of the Happy Shades (1968), to her most recent, Dear Life (2012), and including her short story cycle Who Do You Think You Are?/The Beggar Maid (1978). While thematically unified, this class will particularly focus on key competences in literary and cultural studies, including Information literacy (how to access secondary literature), Reading (how to use secondary literature), Inquiry & Analysis (how to analyze literary texts), and Written and Oral Communication (how to present your discussion in the shape of a term paper or an oral exam).
