This seminar addresses ethical questions that scientists may encounter at all stages of their training and career. Some could have a broad impact on our society, others may be limited to our immediate work or study environment.
Using historical and present-day examples as starting points, we will discuss the ambivalence between the benefits of modern research and its possible misuse, how ethical questions affect our scientific work, how to deal with situations, where we suspect scientific misconduct, and how to reflect upon the ethical implications of our own (scientific) conduct.
