Socio-cultural linguistics is an interdisciplinary approach that encompass a broad range of theories and research methods for the study of language in its socio-cultural context. The main theme of the course concerns different approaches to researching urban multilingualism, in contexts of diversity and mobility. This course will be organised around three main approaches, with practical applications: language portraits in multilingualism research; linguistic landscapes; and multilingualism and computer-mediated communication (networked multilingualism).
