This seminar introduces the students to the main concepts in Morphology and Syntax and applies them to English words and structures. In this lecture-style seminar, strategically organized around two main parts, (1) Morphology and (2) Syntax, we will focus on understanding how language works, different categories of words, operations that create and modify words in various ways, and how words are put together. In doing so, we will deal with different types of morphemes, word formation processes, concepts such as derivation, compounding or inflection. Although the seminar provides an introductory-level overview, it also encourages us to think about how Morphology and Syntax have intricate roles in language learning and usage.
