This course offers students an introduction to linguistic landscapes theory and research. Through the study of linguistic landscapes, you will be introduced to a range of topical and theoretical issues; for example: language and identity, language ideologies, language policy and politics, linguistic commodification, language contact, and language education. In doing so, you will be invited to consider – and apply – some of the core methods used in the investigation, documentation, analysis, and interpretation of linguistic landscapes.
